Once & The Bubble Share Winning Titles
Ticket pre-sale for the 2008 Taipei Film Festival has been going for a week, and the single screening for Academy Award-winning film, Once, is completely sold out while The Bubble, which seduces the audience with a provocative poster and the director power, successfully grabs the most-tickets-sold title. As for the Taiwanese films, Candy Rain, Tea Fight, and Cape No. 7 are all vying for the top spots at the box office.
Once is the first film this year to be sold out, and The Bubble has been leading the box office ever since the pre-sale began. Meanwhile, the opening film, Lemon Tree and the closing film Summer Hours are following closely behind on the sales chart. The director of Summer Hours, Olivier Assayas, will be attending the festival and holding a public signing to meet with the audience on July 6, which might further boost the ticket sales for this title.
Opening film Cape No. 7, closing film Tea Fight, and the new generation feminist film, Candy Rain, are all currently placing at the 11th, 12th and the 13th spot. The possible attendance of the films’ stars can be expected to raise the box office numbers of these films even further.
2008 Taipei Film Festival will be held from June 20 to July 6 in Zhongshan Hall, Shin Kong Cineplex, and the Taipei County Cultural Center. Taipei Award winners will be announce in the afternoon of July 5 at Zhongshan Hall. Credit: sytwo of AF.net
